In a small village close to Barranquilla, Colombia, a group of 36 skillful women. started what would have been considered as a cooperative in 2002, the women of Arte & Tejido are all expert artisans that employ a beautiful and traditional crochet technique. Taking inspiration from cultural influences and their natural surroundings, the artisans create unique, classic pieces with a modern and chic approach to create unique bags. All materials used by the artisans are from 100% natural fibres of cotton and eco-friendly synthetics. Some imperfections in the fibres do not compromise the quality of the products but rather are testimonial of the natural characteristic of the fibres, giving each bag their own personality. Exquisitely hand-crocheted, the exterior’s unique design mirrors the interior, with the bottom that matches this beautiful pattern, these bags are their own masterpieces. As each piece can take between two to three weeks from start to finish, they are truly special, celebrating timeless Colombian artistry.
